Everyone knows about marijuana, and almost everyone has tried the drug at some point in their lives as well. It is important to remember that although marijuana is a very common drug and can be used for medicinal purposes, it is still a drug and causes changes within your body. Some of the most common side effects of marijuana include a feeling of euphoria (high), increased appetite, dizziness and blurred vision.

The first and probably most noticable side effect of marijuana usage is the feeling of being “high” which basically means your body is being tricked into a state of euphoria and complete calmness. People seek out this feeling and is the main reason why people misuse and abuse this drug. Marijuana causes your brain to send out endorphins which ease your mind and make you feel like your care-free.

Another effect of the drug is an increased appetite or as some people call it the “munchies”. When you are under the influence of marijuana, your body releases an increased amount of ghrelin which is an appetite stimulant. Marijuana also contains THC which working with ghrelin makes your appetite even more stimulated. Another reason why people tend to eat more when under the influence of marijuana is due to your heighten sense of smell and taste which makes food even more desirable.

The last, but not least common effect of marijuana is blurred vision. A lot of people experience a dizziness and blurred vision. Along with the high feeling you get from marijuana, the dizziness and blurred vision is a side effect to that. Because you have this false sense of euphoria, your entire body is relaxing including your eyes and muscles used to control your vision which is a main reason why the blurred vision and dizziness occurs.
